Permanent Magnet Generators

Engineered for reliable power output across wind, hydro, backup, and off-grid applications — our permanent magnet generators deliver clean, stable electricity with no field windings, no brushes, and minimal maintenance.

A permanent magnet generator (PMG) operates on the same fundamental principle as all electrical generators: a changing magnetic field induces a voltage in a conductor. What distinguishes a PMG is that the rotor's magnetic field comes entirely from embedded permanent magnets rather than energized field coils. As the rotor spins, the rotating magnetic field sweeps across the stator windings, inducing AC voltage at a frequency proportional to shaft speed.

Because there are no field windings to energize and no brushes or slip rings to carry current to the rotor, permanent magnet generators are mechanically simple, highly reliable, and capable of producing power even at low rotational speeds — an important advantage in variable-speed applications like wind turbines and run-of-river hydro systems. At Mulberry Industries, we design PMGs to match the torque-speed curve of the prime mover, optimizing cut-in speed, peak power, and output waveform for the specific installation.
