AlNiCo Magnets & Custom Assemblies

Features & Characteristics
-
AlNiCo permanent magnets are made up of alloys that include iron, aluminum, nickel, and cobalt. Other elements (e.g., copper and titanium) may be included in minor amounts.
-
AlNiCo magnets are graded based on their cobalt content. This ranges from 0% (AlNiCo 3) to 40% (AlNiCo 8).
-
Lower grades (Mulberry’s AlNiCo 2, 3, and 4) are un-oriented or isotropic. In other words, their magnetic properties are the same in all directions rather than optimized along a particular axis. Magnetic output is relatively low.
Anisotropic grades (Mulberry’s AlNiCo 5, 6, 8, and 9) are designed to produce high magnetic output in a specified direction. We achieve orientation of magnetic output during heat treatment by controlled cooling of the product from about 2000°F within a magnetic field.
-
AlNiCo magnets are heat-resistant, produce a strong magnetic field, and are durable. Their ability to conduct electricity makes them useful in a variety of applications.
